Outreach

The mission of our outreach at St. Mark’s is dedicated to the spreading the Good News to the people of our community. We look beyond the walls of the building to address the spiritual, physical, and financial needs of both our local and global neighbors.  With the support of the St. Mark’s family, we strive to encourage an awareness of our multigenerational ministry as we share our resources.   We commit ourselves to this work recognizing that Jesus Christ calls us to serve ALL the children of God.

Food Pantry

The Burlington Food Pantry is located on the grounds of St. Mark’s. The Pantry serves the needy population in the Community. We accept monthly donations of items such as: mayonnaise, ketchup, pancake mix, syrup, baked beans, dried milk, and soup. These gifts are generously given by everyone and appreciated by the clients of the Pantry. The Outreach team also buys 70 boxes of pancake mix each month. This collection takes place on the first Sunday of the month. For more information please contact: Sue Heidbrink (781-272-2017)

Wish Tree

People Helping People sponsors the Wish Tree each year. This holiday event provides clothing and toys to the needy community in December. Donations of these gifts are collected in December at St. Mark’s. Volunteers are always welcome.

Veterans

A monetary donation is given annually the Department of Veteran Affairs in Bedford.  They are thankful for our thoughtfulness as it reflects our concern for the veterans and for the protection that they have provided to all of us while in service to our country.

B-SAFE

A summer academic and fun enrichment program that provides urban youth, teens, and young adults with a safe, structured, and learning-filled summer. St. Mark’s provides food and volunteers for several days of program.

Reach

We celebrate the special women in our lives while helping women who do not have much to celebrate. St. Mark's donated the proceeds from the sale of the Mother's day roses to REACH (Refuge, Education, Advocacy and Change).

Lillian Vallely School

The lillian Vallely School is a Christian School serving the children who live on the fort Hall Reservation in Blackfoot Idaho. St. Mark’s sends a monetary donation to the Lillian Vallely School every year to aid the school for their purchase of books, school supplies, computers, playground equipment and other “gifts of kind.” Last year we also collected box tops to help the school to fund their library.

Episcopal Relief and Development

With our monetary contribution to ERD, we made a real difference in the lives of people living in extreme poverty all around the globe. Families are provided an opportunity to provide a regular income through our purchase and gift to them of 2 pigs, and 2 goats. The 10 mosquito nets that were purchased help to reduce the threat of malaria.

El Hogar

St. Mark’s Church has been serving El Hogar Ministries for many years. We have been sending supplies to Honduras as well as sponsoring a student with scholarship money. The mission of El Hogar Projects is to provide a loving home and education in a Christian environment for abandoned, orphaned and hopelessly poor children, enabling them to fulfill their ultimate potential as productive human beings in Honduras

We are dedicated to this mission and we invite you to join our committee and help us in support of our outreach programs.
